MISHOR AT A GLANCE

Mishor helps our teens and their parents make the right decisions about their devices, by informing and educating them about technology, guiding and helping them through the filtering process, and by offering ongoing coaching and advice, all in a warm and understanding environment.

THE PARENT

“We just found a smartphone under our son’s mattress. Our lives are completely turned upside down. Can this be? We gave him so much, he is the top boy in his class, and now this?  Where do we go from here?!”

WHY MISHOR?

Home: What We Do

Mishor was founded  to address a growing need in our community. Although there has been an increasing awareness about technology challenges in general, there was nowhere for children and their parents to turn in order to get guidance and clarity in their individual struggles. They needed someone who would sit down and talk to them and get the whole picture, and then guide them on the right path forward.

What was needed was an address for parents to come and discuss their options; a place to bring their children and have someone explain to them about technology in a way that they can understand; and a place for teens to come on their own after they had been exposed to inappropriate material, and they wanted help without their parents and rebbeim finding out. All this needed to be done in a safe, understanding and confidential environment.

And so, with the hadracha and bracha of Rabbanim and Roshei Yeshiva, Mishor was started.

The word was spread through numerous organizations in town.  Various organizations that are geared for helping our youth, refer them to Mishor for technological issues. Therapists send their clients for more guidance.  Many rebbeim  and  menahlim  send their  bochurim to Mishor for help. Rebbeim call up to gain more clarity on issues that their talmidim are facing. Parents call to discuss their options. TAG refers all teenagers to Mishor, as they don’t do filtering for teenagers. There is finally a place for people to turn to for an education about technology; a place that’s equipped to handle both chinuch and technology questions simultaneously.
